Centered around the Columbus poetry scene, but accepting writers worldwide, One Shot Magazine is an independent poetry magazine focused on personality and flair. But what really makes us different is our rule: you can only send us one poem ever. One submission. One poem. One shot. Forever.

Don’t submit to us more than once. Don’t double back with a pseudonym. We’ll know.

We seek work that feels inevitable, alive, and crafted with care, whether it moves through humor, sadness, strangeness, intensity, restraint, something else, or, somehow, all those things. Simply send the poem that best represents you. Our main goal, more or less, is to get a submission from every poet ever (fat chance… we know), so we’re less concerned about style.

We’re an annual publication. Each year, we read submissions closely and select ten poems for publication in our print issue and online archive.

To submit, email one poem as a .docx or PDF to oneshotmagazine.lit@gmail.com. Please include a short third-person bio, and, optionally, make your email fun. Submissions are open November 1 through July 1 each year, with results announced shortly thereafter.
